What is Baabel? 

Baabel is the name of my translation, localisation, copywriting, editing and proofreading agency. At the moment it’s just me. That may change in future, who knows.

Who is Baabel?

Hi! My name is Nadia. I moved back to Luxembourg in 2017 after 18 years in the UK. Like most Luxembourgers, I learned several languages from early on and have pretty much been using them daily ever since. I studied Literature and Languages at Sussex University and then did a Masters in Translation Studies at Warwick Uni. I speak five languages in total (English, German, French, Luxembourgish and rusty Italian), but I specialise in English, Luxembourgish and German. I’m also currently learning Portuguese!

Why Baabel?

The name came together because I wanted something with some relation to languages, thus Babel, but that was also approachable and friendly – like a sheep! I also like the geek factor of the Hitchhiker’s Guide Babel Fish reference and the old Altavista Babel Fish translation engine.

Where is Baabel? 

As mentioned previously, I live in Luxembourg. I am available to work remotely or in the “Greater Region” around Luxembourg. I’ll gladly come and see you wherever if you cover my expenses, of course. Especially if you’re somewhere warm!
